ABRAHAMS, ABRAHAM
ABRAHAMS, ABRAHAM (1897–1955), English author, editor, and Zionist leader. Abrahams was head of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency's New York Bureau in 1933 and editor of The Jewish Standard from 1940 to 1948, after which he took an increasingly active part in the strengthening of the Zionist Revisionist Movement. For a time he was political secretary of the Revisionist Party in England. Abrahams published Poems (1932) and Background of Unrest (1945); his wife, Rachael Beth-Zion Abrahams, was also a writer and journalist. -ADD. BIBLIOGRAPHY: J.B.
